Afro-Vegan, Zero-Waste, Feminist Writer, Blogger and Civil Servant
Doreen Akiyo Yomoah is a writer working in Geneva, Switzerland. She is part of the Women's March Geneva executive team and plans events, campaigns and collaborates with organizations working to promote social, economic and gender justice. She is also the host and editor of We Can't Keep Quiet, the podcast of Women's March Geneva.In her day job, she works in an international organization conducting research and strategic communications on social development. Doreen has a Master's degree in peace studies from the University of Bradford and over a decade's experience writing and researching on issues of gender, race and class.
She also runs the blog Childfree African, which explores issues of voluntary childlessness among people of African descent around the globe. In her spare time, she enjoys running, lifting, colouring, and travelling. She has run three marathons to date.
Of Ghanaian origin, Doreen grew up in Tokyo and upstate New York, and attended undergrad at Michigan State University. She has also lived in China, the United Kingdom, and Senegal.
