Aurora Muñoz
Aurora has a background in communications, health promotion, fundraising and education. Aurora is originally from Dallas, Texas. She has BA from Swarthmore College with a double major in sociology and anthropology and minor in peace and conflict studies and French. After graduating, Aurora was named a Philly Fellow and worked to increase the capacity of Philadelphia’s non-profit sector. Through this fellowship, she worked with the American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania where she planned events and fundraised to benefit victims of disaster. Working in the area of disaster management, Aurora learned her passion lied in the fields of public health and harm-reduction. In DC, she supported social media campaigns and maintained at the Population Action International, an international family planning organization. This experience increased her passion for women’s empowerment and sexual and reproductive health. As a health promoter and language access coordinator at La Clínica del Pueblo, Aurora collaborated with community health organizations throughout DC to improve the services provided to Limited English Proficient communities, as well as provided health education, resources and referrals to the Latino, immigrant community of DC. She is currently living in Freiburg, Germany where she is pursuing a Masters in Global Studies. This opportunity has taken her on a semester in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Delhi, India. Aurora enjoys the outdoors, taking photos, playing with dogs, and trying to keep up with pop culture.
