“I match because of my empathy for the underserved population who are vulnerable to inequality in health access and education.”
Empowering the UNDERSERVED population
Presently, I am a Pharmacist and a graduate student in the United states. My research interest is to improve access to health among the vulnerable population such as the homeless, the poor and uninsured, the disabled, older adults, those with HIV/AIDs and other Chronic diseases.
Having Nigerian root exposed me to the need to increases healthcare in my community. In Nigeria, I recall being involves in community projects under the umbrella of Rotary international and with the vision to make my community a better place. On coming to the USA for graduate studies, I realised that the meed to improve access to health is globally with increase in cost of healthcare and social determinant disparities.
For instance, globally, in the USA, and in Austin, the number of homeless individuals increases, which warrants the need to stimulate communities to engage in community health practices that would reduce this burden in the society.
I also aim to match on behalf of Austin community to improve access to health by nd incorporating health education and promotion and possible partnership with other health agencies to improve acces to health.
This project will be on the the platform of number 3, 4, 6, 10, 11 and 17 of the United Nation's (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which are respectively:
- Good health/Well-being
- Quality Health Education
- Clean Water & Sanitation
- Reduced Inequalities
- Sustainable community
- Partnership for the goals
Let us join hands to make this dream a reality!
Thank you.
