“I march because I believe that women should speak, be heard and assert their position in all forums that was denied to them”
Feminist, Pro-Community Activist, Community Organizer, Mobilizer, Rural Development Worker
I am a Development Practitioner and for the last eight years have been working with the most marginalized and remote communities of one of the most backward states of India.
I was raised in a very open and diverse tribal societies of India in the North-Eastern part of the country so I have always been an observant of the conditions of women in all these regions. I have been lucky to witness very closely the matrilineal as well as highly patriarchal societies both by my upbringing as well as by marriage. I have also been active in Students' politics and gain insights into how youths both in the hills and the plains of India are being used and lead by whom, for what and how. I have also been at the receiving end of Racism, communal-ism and regionalism very hurtful and also have personally witness the evils of a castiest society and I totally understand the dynamics of all these at personal level.
I hence, always involve women in all my works and activities ; be it farm or forums. Women form the core of every work I do.
