“I march because I strongly believe in women's potential, energy and strength. I stand with women against hate and inequality.”
#SDG5 Advocate, Dreamer and Fighter
I am a girl at her 20s located in the capital city of Albania, Tirana. For the past year I have been working in the incoming tourism industry, covering different duties and positions that had to do with logistics, product, customer relationships, business development and sales. This experience boosted up my creativity, multi-tasking skills and general aspects of my life energy. However, I hold a degree in Administration and Social Policies and when I graduated I made a decision to always try my best towards constant improvement of myself and the community that surrounds me.This is why I engaged with UN Youth Association of Albania last year, first as a simple member, volunteering at the Fundraising Department, and currently leading this department as a Board Member. Even though many challenges lay ahead with such inter-disciplinary choices and lifestyle, I am convinced that my passion for women empowerment and better life standards will outcome my struggles and will lead to positive results.
Tourism is currently one the fastest growing sectors in the economy of Albania and we are facing huge difficulties as young female professionals of the field. Coming from a past related to oppression, communism and patriarchal society, we have to deal daily with double standards and bad treatment compared to our male colleagues and this cannot continue.
I believe everyone should contribute into changing this reality and developing this sector and other aspects of our communities; sustainably and responsibly. I want to live in a country where in 20 years it will be a joy and an honor to give birth to a baby girl (in the same way as it is when a baby boy comes to life)!
