On Wednesday 19th of September, FEMRITE will hold a reading with renown Ugandan poet, journalist, and editor, Gloria Kiconco at the Ugandan German Cultural society, Goethe Zentrum in Kamwokya,Bukoto street. Gloria has written for Writivism and her poetry has been published in Brittle Paper and Lawino magazine. She has written great articles for STARTjournal of the arts, The Forager Magazine, and lettera27’s column on Doppiozero, Why Africa? Gloria’s struggle with a cross-cultural and complex identity is central to her writing. She digests these issues through written poetry, spoken word performances, and experimental visual poetry. She is truly an artist we look forward to hearing more about in our interactive author conversation at Goetthe Zentrum,
She was born in Rukungiri, Uganda in 1990 and moved to the United States in 1996. She returned to Uganda at her family’s behest in 2008 and completed a degree in Mass Communication at Uganda Christian University.
